The Marr

Little history: 

The Marr (together with the King?) hated the intellectuals and the clergy who were far too esoteric and snobbish, and the Clubs have executed the ritual to prevent the Marr deteriorating even further, thus causing it.

The Marr (spades) represent being trapped in your own emotions and being twisted by them. Mainly because they have no way to confront (due to lack of memory or ways to self-reflect).

They are unified in body and mind but they’re entirely stuck in their hatred and feelings of being wronged without little memory to understand the origins of those feelings. So they’re doomed to justify them however they can and keep following those destructive drives.

The corruption of the Marr might be the remaining latent energies from Clubs’ prejudices against them? Either due to them splitting from their flesh and the hatred having nowhere to go OR due to the clubs’ transformation into single-minded things with prejudices baked in and unchanging.
